Iceland Post had SAGAsystem data-loggers installed to its fleet of over 100 vehicles in 2004. “Using SAGA we have achieved a great reduction in accidents, speeding and big improvements in driving behaviour including, 56% reduction in accident cost the company had to bear, 43% reduction in the total number of accidents and 51% reduction in the number of accidents, where our employees are responsible. We feel, that the arrival of the SAGAsystem and the supervision opportunities that came with it, does play a large role in these achievements. From the reduction of operational costs we’ve achieved, we see that the investment in the SAGAsystem was a smart choice that has given full pay-back to the last penny.” Sigurdur Jakobsson, Divisional Manager, Iceland Post. The soft drink and beer producer Egils was founded in 1913. Today, the company is Iceland’s second biggest liquid consumables manufacturer and distributor of numerous brands. For the last couple of years, Egils, in collaboration with the insurance company Tryggingarmidstödin (TM), have implemented a competitive game between its drivers. The objective of the game is for each driver to have the lowest driving index and least amount of speeding with the aim to promote safe driving using SAGAsystem data-loggers as “referees”. The results show that the vehicle accident rate has been reduced by 80%. Reference and contact persons: TM – Mr. Methúsalem Hilmarsson responsible for prevention and safety. Tel: +354 515-2602.
