Energy Agency Iceland (EAI) is funded by the Icelandic Ministry of Business Affairs, Icelandic Ministry of Industry and Tourism and ESB grants from a fund called Intelligent Energy - Europe (IEE). Its core emphasis is on increasing the public and corporate awareness on the use of power and power efficiency. EAI validates that SAGAsystem is a well established solution towards these goals.
SAGAsystem was awarded The Traffic Light award of Iceland in 2004. The “Traffic Light” trophy is awarded biannually by the Icelandic Traffic Safety Board for the most noteworthy and successful contribution to traffic safety. The trophy was awarded during the annual meeting of the Icelandic Traffic Safety Board on November 25th 2004, and handed over to SAGAsystem by Mr. Sturla Bödvarsson, the Minister of Transportation and Mr. Oli H. Thordarson, Managing Director of the Icelandic Traffic Safety Board.
For its SAGAsystem invention, SAGAsystem was selected as one of the 70 European IST First Prize Nominees for 2004. The evaluation was made by 16 independent experts nominated by Euro-CASE, and the final decision was made by the European Commission. All the employees at SAGAsystem were overjoyed by receiving this honour and doing so in spite of not submitting the mandatory business plan for the market implementation of the invention which was not completed by that time.
